Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. Millions of visitors from all over the world arrive here to educate and appreciate the birthplace of democracy and philosophy or to descend to an island such as Santorini or Mykonos. Although this ancient city is known for the Acropolis which stands as the hotspot in Athens for over 2,500 years, the major source of wealth and glory is thanks to the picturesque ports and sea that enclose the historical remnants.

On the southern side of Attica, the temple of Poseidon is situated at the top of the cliff at Cape Sounion. Besides being a place of worship, it was marked as an Aegean checkpoint for many ancient Athenians. The sea route between Athens and Sounio is known as the Athenian Riviera. Every year, visitors from all over the world choose to rent a yacht in Athens. This offers guests the ability to navigate countless destinations in the Athenian Riviera and Saronic Gulf. Palaio Faliro, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Agia Marina, Saronida, and Anavissos are some of the few destinations that are worth visiting on a one-day cruise on the Athenian Riviera.

Near Athens are the Argosaronic islands. In fact, the Saronic Gulf is enclosed by Attica and the Peloponnese regions. The Argolic Gulf is the second bay which is formed by Spetses giving closer proximity to Hydra. The Saronic Gulf is great for one-day tours from Athens. In the event that you choose to book a motor yacht, Aegina and Agistri are great options to consider. If you still want to visit Methana or Poro, then the best option is to hire a motor yacht due to the fast cruising speed they provide. The Argolic Gulf which is a little further from Athens is ideal for 2 or 3-day charters. Hydra, Spetses, Tolo, and Nafplio are some of the few destinations that are definitely due for a visit too.

Once you book a yacht from Athens, the Cyclades is one additional great vacation spot. Serifos and Sifnos are recommended for 3-day charters with a motor yacht, allowing you to safely dock into their protected ports. Perhaps you want to explore further islands on a week charter. You can explore Astypalaia or Amorgos whilst making stops at islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, Milos, or Naxos. A catamaran charter would be the best option then as you can spend nights in the spacious cabins they offer and anchor in open bays.
